On November 20 at 11:00 a.m., the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine's national media literacy project "Filter" and Public Broadcasting will hold a nationwide media literacy lesson 2025. This year's date is particularly significant: on November 20, Ukraine will celebrate Children's Day for the first time together with the rest of the world — on Universal Children's Day.
The lesson will be broadcast by Suspilne Culture on television and on its YouTube channel. Students in grades 5–11 and teachers from all regions of Ukraine are invited to watch.
The lesson is filmed in a team quest format: two teams of teenagers will complete tasks together with invited experts, competing in media literacy, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills. The format involves edutainment: learning through games, teamwork, and real-life examples.
Timur Miroshnychenko will be the host. Guests of the lesson will include actress and blogger Iryna Kudashova, TV presenter Anatoliy Anatolich, chief expert of the National Bank of Ukraine Tetiana Mashlakovska, AI expert Olga Petriv, and blogger Ellevika (Viktoria Oliinyk), who will help teenagers navigate the challenges of the modern digital world.
The lesson will include three thematic blocks devoted to the impact of social media on young people, online financial security, and recognizing AI-generated content:
- "Life on social media VS reality" — actress and blogger Iryna Kudashova, together with teenagers, will analyze content from TikTok and Instagram: how to recognize staged stories on social media, hidden advertising, and not succumb to toxic standards of "successful success."
- "Financial literacy" — TV presenter Anatoliy Anatolich and chief expert of the National Bank of Ukraine Tetiana Mashlakovska will explain how to recognize online scams.
- "Artificial intelligence" — AI expert Olga Petriv and blogger Ellevika will talk about how to determine if a video is a deepfake. In addition, viewers will see the process of creating a deepfake.
After the lesson is broadcast, the classes watching will be able to take an online test together by scanning the QR code that will appear during the broadcast. The link to the test will also be published by the organizers on social media immediately after the broadcast. The classes that score the highest number of points will be randomly selected to receive a gift from the lesson sponsors — a MacBook Air laptop.
The All-Ukrainian Media Literacy Lesson is an annual event that teaches children to navigate the digital environment, counteract manipulation, and consume information safely. In 2023, the lesson garnered over 100,000 views on television and online. In 2024, it received about 80,000 views.
The All-Ukrainian Media Literacy Lesson is part of the national media literacy project "Filter" by the Ministry of Culture and Public Broadcasting in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and with the support of UNDP Ukraine and funding from the Government of Japan.
