As part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities,” an online seminar titled “Sharing Experiences in Providing Social Support to Internally Displaced Persons” was held, with the participation of representatives from the social protection sector of the Bakhmut and Kremenchuk communities.
The event was organized by the Social Protection Department of the Bakhmut City Council with the aim of exchanging practical experience in working with internally displaced persons, discussing current challenges in the field of social protection, and identifying prospects for further inter-municipal cooperation.
Representatives of the Bakhmut community presented the main areas of work regarding support for IDPs and other vulnerable population groups. Participants learned about the implementation of the 2026–2027 Program for the Support and Integration of Internally Displaced Persons in the Bakhmut Community, the activities of the “With Bakhmut in Our Hearts” centers as an effective tool for providing social and humanitarian aid, the organization of health and recreational programs for children from IDP families, practical aspects of procuring services for the transportation of humanitarian cargo, and the mechanism for providing humanitarian aid to community residents via postal shipments.
The Kremenchuk City Community shared its experience in organizing work with displaced persons, implementing social programs, and providing support to citizens facing difficult life circumstances.
Particular attention was given to discussing pressing issues related to the social protection of IDPs, ensuring their rights and social guarantees, matters of humanitarian support, integration into host communities, as well as the development of partnerships with international and charitable organizations.
Following the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of continued professional dialogue and the exchange of best practices, and expressed their readiness to develop inter-municipal cooperation and implement joint initiatives in the field of social protection.
