Safe Work Means Protecting Your Life!

Published 18 October 2025 year, 13:47

Every year on October 18, Ukraine joins the European community in marking the European Anti-Trafficking Day. This date serves as an important reminder that the risks of illegal exploitation remain high—especially during wartime, when many citizens seek work abroad or far from home.

Human trafficking is a serious crime and а grave violation of human rights. It can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or social status. Fraudsters exploit vulnerability by promising high salaries, easy employment, or safe relocation—but in reality, they turn people into commodities.

How to Protect Yourself When Looking for a Job

If you plan to work abroad or in another region of Ukraine, follow these key safety rules:

🔹 Don’t trust unrealistic promises. An excessively high salary for unskilled work is a major red flag.

🔹 Check the employer or intermediary. Request a license for overseas employment mediation (if it’s a foreign company) or registration documents for the employer.

🔹 Sign a written contract. Carefully read your employment agreement or contract—it must be written in a language you understand and clearly state the terms of work, payment, and accommodation.

🔹 Keep copies of your documents. Make copies of all important papers (passport, contract, visa) and leave them with a trusted person at home.

🔹 Have emergency contacts. Write down the contact details of the Ukrainian embassy or consulate in your destination country, as well as the National Anti-Trafficking Hotline.
