“We said goodbye to our friend Denis and packed everything we needed for school,” say six-year-old Sofiika and eight-year-old Oleksandra, describing how they prepared for their third evacuation. Police officers evacuated the girls, along with their parents and grandfather, from Serhiivka, and another woman, who was unable to walk, from Mykolaivka. The crew’s tally for the day: six lives saved.

It’s over 20 km from Serhiivka to the front line, but the enemy is terrorizing the village with drones and bombing it with KABs. A mandatory evacuation of families with children has been declared in the village; 17 families remain there.

Oleksandra and Sofiika’s family left their home in New York, near Toretsk, back in 2022. Thanks to that decision, they survived.

“We were running from the shells; it was terrifying. The next day, our neighbors called and said, ‘Neither our house nor yours is left—there was a strike. My parents’ house is destroyed too,’” recalls the grandfather.

The family settled in Andriivka, in the Kramatorsk district, but when the front line drew closer and it became impossible to live there due to shelling, they moved to neighboring Serhiivka. Now they are heading to another region. With every evacuation, the family always takes their four-legged friends along: a dog and a cat.

The next stop for the “White Angels” is Mykolaivka. Enemy drones monitor the airspace over the city around the clock. Nevertheless, the evacuation team managed to rescue a 76-year-old woman who needed medical assistance.

The evacuation from Donetsk Oblast continues. The police are helping people leave safely—in an armored vehicle, protected from drones. Call 102.
