Representatives of the Myrnohrad, Grodno, Sartan and Staromlyniv communities of Donetsk region joined an online meeting dedicated to involving youth in early community recovery processes.
The meetings were held with the participation of the regional youth council. During them, they presented the Plan for Involving IDP Youth in Early Recovery of Communities in Donetsk region.
The document was developed based on the results of meetings with internally displaced youth held in Dnipro, Kyiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Poltava and Kryvyi Rih. During this meeting, young people shared their own experience of evacuation, their vision of the future of Donetsk region and proposals for youth participation in the recovery of their native communities.
During online meetings with community representatives, participants discussed the current needs of youth who are not evacuated anywhere, opportunities for their involvement in community development and further steps for joint work.
The Action Plan is a great tool for establishing systemic interaction between communities and IDP youth. Its implementation should help young people remain active participants in the life of their community and be able to participate in shaping their future even when they are outside the Donetsk region.
These meetings were not the end of the work, but the beginning of further dialogue with communities, ready to work together today to develop solutions on youth policy and early recovery.
