Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language in Donetsk Oblast: a parade of anniversaries

Published 28 October 2025 year, 17:00

On October 27, we celebrate the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language. And this year is rich in anniversaries and milestones!

The Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language is inextricably linked to the figure who stands at the origins of our word. Traditionally, on this day we honor the memory of St. Nestor the Chronicler, a monk of the Kyiv Cave Monastery, a thinker, and the author of the oldest written monument, the Tale of Bygone Years. It is no coincidence that on the eve of the holiday, the Donetsk Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education dedicated a methodological living room "Those Who Seek Wisdom Will Find It" to the great chronicler's 970th birthday. The expert committee received 42 materials for consideration, 23 of which were included in the exposition of the living room on the website of Ukrainian philologists in Donetsk region. You can view the works of the finalists of the living room at the following links https://viddilukrfilolog.wixsite.com/nestorlitopis970

The tenth regional festival was dedicated to this year's jubilee, the fine lyricist Vasyl Symonenko. More than 130 teachers and students took part in the event in four nominations: "Literary and Musical Mix, Intimate Conversations about the Eternal, Tests of the Pen of Donetsk Region Teachers, and Panorama of Book Trailers. All the finalists' materials can be found on the websites of the library and Ukrainian philologists of Donetsk region, where a real treasure trove has been collected: the poems of colleagues inspire, the performances of students and their teachers impress with their skills, and the methodological materials will be useful for every philologist.

We thank all the participants of the regional events dedicated to the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language!
