Humanitarian hubs, centers established for residents of Donetsk Oblast in safe regions of Ukraine, joined the celebration of the Day of Interethnic Harmony and Cultural Diversity yesterday.
Under the slogan “Everyone has his own voice, but we have one heart”, a literary and musical journey through different parts of Ukraine entitled “Respect for Others is the Key to Social Harmony” took place at the Marinka IBA Humanitarian Hub in Zhovti Vody.
The participants of the event got acquainted with national minorities, learned about the diversity of their culture, national traditions, beliefs, customs and national dishes, and took part in the quiz “Guess the country by the flag”. The performance of the Dobryi Napriy (Good mood) musical group with multilingual songs gave the audience unforgettable emotions, a real celebration of the soul, and emotional unity.
In the cultural space of the Toretsk community in Dnipro, an ethno-cultural mosaic “Rites and Customs of the Peoples of Ukraine” was held: an information block, a creative workshop, interactive games that left a lot of pleasant impressions and new knowledge.
The YaMariupol network of IDP support centers held culinary master classes on cooking dishes of the Greeks of Nadazovia, and lectures on traditional dishes of different peoples of the world as an element of culture, identity and heritage.
A meeting was also held with the partner society of the Greeks of Pryazovia, Elpida, aimed at exchanging traditions, learning about Greek cuisine and the historical events that brought them to the lands of Donetsk region.
The Darnitsa Palace of Culture in Kyiv welcomed Donetsk residents who attended the concert dedicated to the Day of Interethnic Harmony and Cultural Diversity and received a lot of positive emotions, a boost of energy and good mood.
May 21 is a reminder of the importance of tolerance, mutual respect and joint efforts in building a peaceful society.
We remember that this day is about our dignity, resilience and common future, because diversity is our strength and unity is our future.
