Visitors to the Lyman Community’s educational and youth center in Kremenchuk embarked on a floral journey through Ukraine.

The creative workshop, held as part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities,” was led by an instructor from the Kremenchuk City Center for Extracurricular Education “Academy of the Future.”

At the event, children learned about flowers that have long been symbols of Ukrainian culture and were introduced to the work of the outstanding artist Kateryna Bilokur. Her paintings once again reminded them of a simple yet important truth: true beauty lives right beside us—in a wildflower, in our native land, and in everything that surrounds us every day.

Inspired by what they heard, the participants created their own “Flowering Ukraine.” One by one, bright flowers—sunflowers, poppies, daisies, and cornflowers—bloomed on a white silhouette of our country. Each child chose their own flower, adding it to the composition and filling the map with warmth, colors, and good wishes.

When the last flower found its place on the map of Ukraine, it was time to move on. The playground filled with laughter, cheers of encouragement, and excitement. In the game “Otaman, Give Me a Cossack,” the children tested their agility; in “The Slower You Go, the Further You’ll Get,” they learned to curb their haste; and “The Tangled Knot” demonstrated once again that the most complicated knots are easier to untangle together.
