I Am the Guardian of a Newborn Child. Am I Eligible to Receive the Childbirth Grant?
Yes, you are.
The childbirth grant is provided in accordance with the Law of Ukraine No. 2811-XII of November 21, 1992, "On State Assistance to Families with Children," and Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 1751 of December 27, 2001, "On Approval of the Procedure for Assigning and Paying State Assistance to Families with Children."
The childbirth grant:
is awarded to a guardian based on the official decision establishing guardianship;
is paid to one of the parents or the guardian who permanently lives with the child;
the lump-sum portion of the grant paid to a guardian is considered the property of the child;
is granted provided that the application is submitted no later than 12 months after the child's birth;
in the case of the birth of, or the establishment of guardianship over, two or more children, the grant is provided separately for each child.
Therefore, a guardian of a newborn child is entitled to receive the childbirth grant, provided that all legal requirements are met.
