Learn about the requirements for in-person identification when traveling abroad

Published 28 October 2026 year, 13:45

My mother is a retiree; she underwent in-person identification in May 2026 and traveled abroad in July. Does she need to go through the procedure again because she left Ukraine?

No, she does not. Physical identification is required once a year, by December 31.

Resolution No. 299 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated February 11, 2025, defines two categories of individuals who must undergo physical identification annually by December 31 to continue receiving their benefits. These include pensioners who are temporarily residing outside Ukraine and those residing in territories of Ukraine temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation.

The Pension Fund of Ukraine reminds you: verifying your identity ensures that your benefits reach you directly. If you receive a pension, insurance benefits, or social assistance, check whether you need to undergo identification this year.

To this end, the Pension Fund of Ukraine has sent individual reminders to pensioners and recipients of insurance benefits who must undergo in-person identification or submit a notification that they are not receiving payments from the Russian Federation.

To read the notification, follow the links: https://t1p.de/s4hq1, https://t1p.de/i99mh.

In the text of the notification, you will find active links with step-by-step instructions on how to complete the identification process or report that you have not received payments from the Russian Federation online.

Pensioners can verify that they completed in-person identification in 2026 by using the “My Identification” service on the Pension Fund of Ukraine’s e-services web portal.

This service allows you to confirm that in-person identification has been completed and, accordingly, that pension payments will resume next year.

If pension or insurance benefit payments were suspended due to failure to complete in-person identification, they can be reinstated within one year from the date of suspension.
