In Kropyvnytskyi, the Donetsk Regional Center for Tourism and Local History for Students held a series of workshops for IDP children as part of the ethnographic event "Touching the Past" on the occasion of Independence Day and the Day of the State Flag of Ukraine.
During the week, the participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Ukrainian crafts and traditions. The workshops were extremely diverse: from embossing on fabric, making crafts from felt and foamiran to creating fragrant sachets of wax and bags stuffed with mint. Particular attention was drawn to the classes on making a jute rag doll, pottery, and decorating clay toys.
Young craftsmen also learned weaving, tried their hand at embroidery and created original postcards. Everyone could find an activity to their liking: from creating amulets to mastering the intricacies of decorative art.
In addition to practical skills, children discovered new facts about the history and culture of our region. Such events are not only interesting leisure time, but also an important tool for developing creative abilities, fostering love for Ukrainian traditions, forming national identity and pride in our people.
Today, we are witnessing a revival of national consciousness: forgotten traditions and spiritual values are coming back to life from the depths of past centuries, because it is impossible to build the future without knowing your roots.
