On the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, a regional campaign "Dictionary of Donetsk Region" was held as part of the Ukrainian Language Week.
During the campaign, residents of the region shared Ukrainian words that are specific to their locality and create a unique local dialect.
A dialect is a living, vernacular language that differs from the literary norm in its colorfulness and unusual sound. It enriches the language by diversifying it.
Within a few weeks, the participants of the campaign sent more than 1,500 words. We invite you to dive into the world of dialects of Donetsk region.
