On May 5, representatives of the Donetsk Regional State Administration and Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs participated in a discussion of key issues related to national resistance and support for defenders as part of a series of joint events.
On this day, attention was focused on two priority areas: the development of the national resistance system at the state level and a professional dialogue on supporting the military within the framework of the Veterans Forum.
The joint participation of Oleksandr Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration, and Olena Volobuyeva, First Vice Rector of Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, in the meeting chaired by Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, was a logical reflection of the consolidated position of the region and the university. It is these officials who directly coordinate the implementation of the national resistance policy in the region.
During the meeting, a number of key issues regarding the preparation of the population were discussed:
- Introduction of a new course titled “Fundamentals of National Resistance” in higher education institutions to provide students with skills in first aid, tactical training, and firearms training.
- Implementation of a three-tier training model: an updated “Defense of Ukraine” course in schools, a specialized course for students, and 48- or 108-hour programs for the civilian population.
- Operation of the “Center for Unity and National Resistance” platform, active in Donetsk Oblast in cooperation with centers in other regions.
National resistance is not just a military matter, but a person’s ability to protect themselves and their family in difficult times. In addition to security issues, a key event of the day was the Veterans Forum, where participants continued their work on social support measures for defenders. Such synergy underscores that community safety and care for veterans are inseparable components of state policy.
