The Department of physical culture and sports of the Donetsk regional state administration continues to summarize the results of the region's athletes' performances at national and international competitions on a monthly basis.

The best athletes of March were determined in three categories: olympic, non-olympic sports and sports for people with disabilities. The voting was conducted among the expert group of the Department of physical culture and sports of the Donetsk regional state administration and fans on Facebook.

Mykhailo Brudin from Druzhkivka was named athlete of the month among the Olympians. He is a master of sports of Ukraine in athletics, a representative of the School of higher sportsmanship in Donetsk oblast, and a scholarship recipient from the Donetsk region state administration. At the European Cup in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, he achieved the highest result in the discus throw among athletes under 23 years of age. Mykhailo’s trainer – his father, Yuriy Brudin – was named the best coach in Donetsk region in olympic sports in March.

The title of “Best athlete” among non-olympic athletes was won by the dance sports couple Ivan Movchan and Maria Solonenko – graduates of the Myrnohrad city council’s children’s and youth sports school (Ivan is a master of sports of Ukraine, and Maria is a candidate for master of sports of Ukraine). At the World Championships in Nowy Targ, Poland, they placed first in the Pro-Am category for adults in the Latin American program and took second place in the “Youth 1” and “Youth 2” categories. Natalia Volkova – Ivan and Maria’s coach – was awarded the title of “Best coach” in non-olympic sports.

In the category “Sports for people with disabilities,” representatives of the Donetsk regional children's and youth sports school for people with disabilities and the city of Sloviansk were recognized: Zlata Diachuk, an international-class master of sports of Ukraine in para powerlifting, and her trainer, Ihor Kotlyarov, an honored coach of Ukraine. At the European Championships in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, among athletes with musculoskeletal disorders, Zlata won a bronze medal based on the total of three lifts in the women’s weight category up to 79 kg.
