The Department of physical culture and sports of the Donetsk regional state administration continues to summarize the results of the region's athletes' performances at national and international competitions on a monthly basis.
At the end of July 2025, the best athletes of the month were determined in two categories: Olympic sports and sports among people with disabilities. The voting was conducted among the expert group of the Department of physical culture and sports of the Donetsk regional state administration and fans on Facebook.
Artem Harbar from Druzhkivka was named athlete of the month among the olympians. He is an international master of sports in taekwondo (WTF) and representative of the School of higher sportsmanship in Donetsk oblast. At the World Summer Universiade in Germany, he won gold in the men's weight category up to 87 kg. Artem's coach, Yuriy Biryukov, a distinguished trainer of Ukraine, was named the best coach in the Donetsk region in olympic sports in July.
In the category “Sports among people with disabilities,” the best in July were representatives of the Donetsk regional children's and youth sports school for people with disabilities and the city of Sloviansk: master of sports of Ukraine in para swimming Artem Oliynyk and his coach Danylo Kaznacheyev. At the European Youth Paralympic Games in Turkey, Artem won 11 gold medals: in the 50 m butterfly, 50 m backstroke, 100 m breaststroke, 50 m, 100 m, and 200 m freestyle, and also 200 m medley.
In addition, the members of the commission for determining the best athlete and coach of Donetsk region decided to award a special distinction to Artem Zuyev, a candidate for master of sports of Ukraine in orienteering, who took 4th place in the veterans age group at the World Rogaining Championships in Spain in July.
