The Department of physical culture and sports of the Donetsk regional state administration continues to summarize the results of the region's athletes' performances at national and international competitions on a monthly basis.
After the end of August 2025, the best athletes of the month were determined in three categories: olympic, non-olympic sports and sports for people with disabilities. The voting was conducted among the expert group of the Department of physical culture and sports of the Donetsk regional state administration and fans on Facebook.
Milana Ushakova, a master of sports of Ukraine in cycling and an athlete of the School of higher sportsmanship in Donetsk oblast, was named athlete of the month among the olympians. At the junior world track cycling championships in the Netherlands, she won bronze in the elimination race. The title of best coach of Donetsk region in olympic sports in August was awarded to Kyrylo Pospieyev, coach of the School of higher sportsmanship.
The winner of the best athlete nomination among non-olympic athletes is Vladyslav Rudniev, honored master of sports of Ukraine in sambo and scholarship recipient of the Donetsk regional state administration. He distinguished himself with two victories at the XII World Games in China in the combat section of sambo: in individual competitions in the 79 kg weight category and in the team tournament as member of the Ukrainian national team. Vladyslav's coach, his father Serhiy Rudniev, was named the best coach of the Donetsk region in non-olympic sports in August.
In the category “Sports for people with disabilities” the following were recognized: Yehor Dementyev, honored master of sports of Ukraine in para-cycling, representative of the Donetsk regional center of physical culture and sports for people with disabilities “Invasport”, and Viktor Dementyev, honored coach of Ukraine, father and coach of Yehor. At the road world championships in Belgium, the paralympian of Donetsk oblast won a silver medal in the C5 class in the group race. Yehor Dementyev and Viktor Dementyev are scholarship holders of the Donetsk regional state administration.
