On March 11, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Oleksandr Shevchenko took part in an online webinar entitled "Transformation of Children's Homes: The Experience of the Czech Republic."

The event was organized by the Coordination Center for the Development of Family Education and Child Care in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic.

During the webinar, participants learned about the Czech Republic's practical experience in transforming residential institutions and implementing a modern system of support for children and families. Particular attention was paid to the development of early intervention services and the creation of an effective system of assistance to families with young children.

This work is part of a large-scale state policy. In November 2024, the government approved the Strategy for Ensuring the Right of Every Child in Ukraine to Grow Up in a Family Environment for 2024-2028 and approved an operational plan of measures for its implementation until 2026.

One of the European Union's requirements for Ukraine is to reform the child care and support system, which involves transforming the institutional system of child care and upbringing.

The experience of the Czech Republic is extremely valuable for Ukraine, as they have already gone through the difficult process of transforming boarding schools into a modern model where the interests of the child and family support are a priority. Our task is to adapt these best practices to Ukrainian realities.
