In September 2025, the Department of Education and Science of the regional state administration, together with prosecutors from the Donetsk regional and district prosecutor's offices, conducted 47 educational and preventive lessons in 36 educational institutions aimed at preventing suicidal and other risky behavior.
These meetings were aimed at helping adolescents develop stable life guidelines and social skills that allow them to overcome difficulties without endangering their lives and health. An important task is to create a supportive environment in the educational institution where students can talk openly about their experiences, know who to turn to for help, and why it is so important to take care of themselves and their friends.
The classes had three key components:
- Development of life skills - the ability to recognize and live their emotions, overcome a crisis and solve problems constructively.
- Formation of value guidelines - affirmation of the unconditional value of life and the unacceptability of suicidal or other life-threatening decisions.
- Informing about resources for help - where to go: to a school psychologist, a trusted adult, a helpline or other support services.
More than 1,300 schoolchildren, pupils and students from vocational and higher education institutions in Donetsk Oblast took part. The events were held online and offline at the locations of the relocated institutions in Dnipro.
Cooperation between educators and law enforcement officials on issues of youth safety and psychological health is ongoing.
