An important meeting of the UN Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Cluster in Ukraine was held with the participation of regional authorities from Donetsk Oblast.
Yuriy Vinokurov, First Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration; heads of the Regional State Administration’s structural units; heads of the Kramatorsk and Sloviansk city military administrations; and the General Director of the municipal enterprise “Voda Donbassa” met with international partners. Representatives of the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in Ukraine and the “Partnership for a Strong Ukraine” Foundation also joined the discussion.
The participants discussed the water supply situation in the region, which is constantly affected by hostilities. Special attention was paid to identifying priority areas for support, effective coordination with international partners, and finding solutions to ensure a stable water supply for the population.
In particular, they discussed ways to provide residents with technical and drinking water and ensure rapid response in difficult conditions. Joint efforts by government agencies, utility companies, and international partners are key to overcoming challenges and meeting the basic needs of the population of Donetsk Oblast.
