Donetsk region continues to carefully preserve and promote its intangible cultural heritage. The next step in this direction was a meeting of the regional commission on the formation of the list of elements of intangible cultural heritage, which was held on the initiative of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Donetsk Regional State Administration in conjunction with the Donetsk Regional Educational and Methodological Center for Culture.
As a result of the meeting, five new elements were added to the regional list:
- "Vasylopita. The ritual of cutting the New Year's cake among the Greeks of Nadazov" (Mangush TG, Kalchitsa TG);
- The wedding tradition of making “Tree for happiness” in the village of Bogoyavlenka, Vugledar City Territorial Community (Vugledar TG);
- Making Easter bread with braids – ritual bread of the village of Novo-Ukrainka in the Vugledar city territorial community (Vugledar TG);
- Preparation of the traditional closed pie of the Nadazov Greeks “Kiobete” (Mirnenska TG);
- The tradition of celebrating the temple feast of Panayir by the Nadazov Greeks (NGO “Nadazov Greeks: Urumi and Rumei”).
These elements testify to the uniqueness of the cultural experience of the communities and the vitality of the heritage created and maintained by the residents of the region themselves. It is thanks to this that we preserve and pass on to future generations our traditions, which are an invaluable part of our identity.
We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to this work. Thanks to you, Donetsk region preserves its authenticity, and its cultural heritage continues to live and inspire.
