Vadym Filashkin reported that Donetsk region will install four cogeneration units as part of preparations for the winter season

Published 02 April 2026 year, 15:15

The total electric capacity of the units will be 5 MW, and thermal capacity — 5.3 MW. The government has allocated 53.3 million hryvnias for this initiative.

This is a concrete step to strengthen the resilience of critical infrastructure. The installations will provide heat and electricity to hospitals, schools, and other essential facilities during the winter period.

According to Filashkin, the region received part of the equipment with the support of international partners. The key task now is to put it into operation as quickly as possible — prepare the sites, complete all necessary work, and connect the units to the grid.

A clear deadline has been set — by October 1. Authorities are working closely with local communities to ensure everything is ready on time.

Preparation for winter is already underway. It includes not only individual decisions but a comprehensive approach: protection of energy facilities, development of distributed generation, and ensuring stable heat and water supply.

Filashkin also expressed gratitude to the President, the Prime Minister, and the government team for their continued support, emphasizing that every effort is being made to ensure the region is fully prepared for winter.
