On July 15, a meeting of the working group for the implementation of the Strategy for ensuring the right of every child in Ukraine to grow up in a family environment for 2024-2028 took place. The event, chaired by the Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Oleksandr Shevchenko, focused on key aspects of supporting children deprived of parental care.

During the meeting, important issues were discussed, including an analysis of current trends regarding the development of family forms of upbringing in the Donetsk region, as well as the peculiarities of training candidates for family forms of upbringing in a state of martial law.

Participants in the discussion included the head of the children's affairs service of the regional state administration Yuliya Ryzhakova, the head of the department for organizing educational activities for family forms of upbringing and the national trainer for family upbringing of the Donetsk Regional Center for Social Services Tetiana Kuzmenko. Members of the working group and deputies of the heads of military administrations of localities, including representatives of the executive committee of the Mariupol City Council, also joined the discussion.

As a result of the discussion, the members of the working group discussed further steps regarding the stable functioning of the already existing family-type children's homes, foster families, and families of patronage educators.

They emphasized the critical need to find new families willing to take in children who, for various reasons, have been left without parental care. The participants of the meeting identified priority areas for successful implementation and realization of the Strategy, as well as adopted a corresponding decision for further coordination of efforts.
