In October, the Donetsk Regional Youth Center continued its work focused on youth development and providing support to professionals who work with young people. Key activities included professional training for youth workers, psychological support sessions, creative workshops, and educational programs for teenagers and young adults.

A highlight was a training session held as part of the "Youth Worker" program, which brought together youth workers from the Donetsk region for an in-person event in Vinnytsia. Participants discussed how to work with young people during wartime and how to apply a trauma-informed approach in their professional practice. Special attention was given to understanding the experiences of those who have lived through traumatic events, recognizing their needs, and ensuring safe communication.

Today, as the war impacts the lives of so many, this knowledge is particularly vital. It enables youth workers to better understand and support young people, while taking into account how traumatic events may affect their behavior and emotional state. The insights and practical tools gained can be applied by youth workers not only in their professional roles but also in their daily lives and interactions with loved ones.

Another key area of the Center’s work involves psychological sessions for teenagers and adults, offered in both online and in-person formats. Through these sessions, participants learn to better understand themselves and their own needs, navigate complex emotions, and find ways to address everyday challenges. Such gatherings also help young people meet peers, make friends, and find support.

Additionally, the center continues to host meetings as part of the "PidlitOK" (TeenOK) and "Youth Democracy" programs. These initiatives help teenagers and young adults develop critical thinking, gain a better understanding of their rights and opportunities, cultivate an active civic stance, and learn how to contribute to positive changes within their communities.

A primary focus of the center is the national-patriotic education of youth. In October, thematic events were held to mark the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks and the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language. During these sessions, participants explored the history of the Cossacks, learning more about their ancestors, traditions, and contributions to the formation of Ukrainian statehood. They also discussed the evolution of the Ukrainian language, covering key events and the various stages of its development. Hundreds of young people from the Donetsk region—currently residing across Ukraine and abroad—join these sessions, as exploring one's own history is an essential part of personal identity and helps preserve the roots of Ukrainian culture and art for every Ukrainian.

The creative track features workshops and art therapy sessions. In October, participants had the opportunity to craft their own keychains and experiment with a unique painting technique using wine. Such activities allow individuals to try something new, develop their creative potential, and socialize in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. The Donetsk Regional Youth Center operates in-person in Vinnytsia and hosts online events open to participants from anywhere in Ukraine or abroad.

Keep an eye on the Center’s announcements, choose the events that interest you, and join us! Here, you can gain new knowledge, develop your skills, make friends, and become part of an active youth community.
