I raised a child with a disability until the age of six. Am I eligible for early retirement?
Yes, you are, but under certain conditions.
The mother of a person with a disability since childhood, who raised that person until the age of six, is eligible for an early old-age pension.
To qualify, you must:
be at least 50 years old;
have at least 15 years of insurance coverage.
This right is provided for in paragraph 3 of part one of Article 115 of the Law of Ukraine “On Compulsory State Pension Insurance.” Children with disabilities under the age of 18 are also considered to be persons with disabilities since childhood.
What documents must be submitted:
To apply for an early pension, you must submit an application and documents confirming your identity, insurance record, the birth and upbringing of the child until the age of six, as well as the child’s disability.
The child’s disability can be confirmed by relevant medical documents. You may also submit a benefit recipient’s certificate or a statement from the agency that granted the benefit, specifying the period during which such benefits were received.
Important! If the disability was established after the child turned six, you must provide documentation confirming the existence of relevant medical indications prior to the age of six. The supporting document is the conclusion of a medical advisory commission.
How to Apply for a Pension:
You can submit an application and the required documents to any service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, regardless of your place of residence or registration.
You can also submit the application remotely via the Pension Fund of Ukraine’s e-services web portal.
You may apply for an early pension no earlier than one month before reaching the applicable retirement age.
The decision to grant an early pension is made based on the submitted documents and information contained in the Pension Fund of Ukraine’s information systems.
