Experience Matters: At 55, Olena Found a New Job Through the National Project

Published 10 July 2026 year, 18:10

The war forced Olena Sosnovtseva to leave her hometown of Dobropillia and start a new life in Dnipro. Along with relocating, she also lost the job to which she had devoted many years.

For most of her professional career, Olena worked as an accountant. She has extensive experience and solid professional expertise, but like many people aged 50+, she was concerned about whether she would be able to find a new job.

She turned to the Employment Service for assistance. There, specialists helped her prepare a résumé, offered vocational training, digital literacy and psychological support workshops, and gave her the opportunity to upgrade her qualifications at one of the State Employment Service's Vocational Education and Training Centers.

The turning point came when she joined the National Project "Experience Matters," created specifically for people aged 50 and older. Its main idea is simple: professional experience should never be overlooked, while employers gain access to skilled and reliable professionals.

Olena completed her profile on the project's platform, listing her qualifications and employment preferences. After analyzing her profile, the system matched her with a vacancy that corresponded to her experience.

At the same time, the Dobropillia Territorial Center for Social Services, which had relocated to Dnipro, joined the project in search of a social work specialist. The Employment Service arranged an interview, after which Olena was invited to complete an internship.

The internship allowed the employer to see that she was responsible, attentive, communicative, and able to adapt quickly to her new responsibilities.

Today, Olena Sosnovtseva works at the Territorial Center for Social Services, where she advises people in need of social support, assists them with completing the necessary documentation, cooperates with various institutions, and informs residents about available social services. Her many years of professional experience have become a solid foundation for her new career.
