Due to the escalation of military operations in the Donetsk region caused by the Russian Federation's aggression against Ukraine, the primary task was to protect the lives and health of residents of social institutions. For safety reasons, the residents of the Pokrovsky Psychoneurological Boarding School were evacuated. Among them, 100 people found shelter and care in the Kingdom of Spain.
From the very first days of their stay abroad, the residents of the boarding school have been surrounded by the care and attention of their Spanish colleagues. They are delighted to participate in all the activities and classes offered, actively adapting to their new environment.
A vivid testimony to their social and creative adaptation was a cultural trip to one of Madrid's art centers on November 19, 2025.
For the third year in a row, Ukrainian boys have been participating in annual theater performances organized by the Madrid Agency for Social Security "Amas." Each time, their performances become a profound expression of the soul, unbreakable strength of spirit, and national identity.
This year, the wards prepared and performed an original theatrical piece entitled "We make our dreams come true." The performance was the highlight of the event, combining emotion, sincerity, and subtle artistic execution. Thanks to the apt lighting design, thoughtful scenography, costumes, and decorations, the atmosphere created was on par with professional theater work, which further emphasized the talent and efforts of the participants.
For the participants, this performance was not only a form of creative self-expression, but also an important component of social adaptation.
Such events contribute to the development of communication skills, the expansion of social circles, the formation of self-confidence, and open up new opportunities for integration into society.
Sharing the artistic experience supports the emotional state of the participants, inspires new achievements, and contributes to the further development of their creative potential.
The trip to Madrid's cultural center and participation in the theater competition were significant events for all participants and once again confirmed a simple truth: dreams can indeed come true if you do it together, with faith in your own strength and the support of caring people.
We are very proud of our residents and eagerly await their return home. We express our sincere gratitude to the Kingdom of Spain — the country that has sheltered our residents — its citizens and volunteer organizations for their invaluable support, humanity, and assistance in preserving the full lives of Ukrainians who find themselves far from home.
Victory is near! Everything will be Ukraine!
