Evacuation from frontline areas is a difficult journey not only for people but also for their pets. Charitable organizations help evacuated families transport their animals and provide them with essential supplies.
A cat named Bulochka was born during shelling in the Donetsk region, and when she was just two months old, soldiers helped get her out of the danger zone. Later, the children’s father took the little cat with him and brought her to his children. Now, for Bulochka, the evacuation has become a chance for a safe life with her family.
The beautiful Chara walked 17 kilometers with her owners from Dobropillia to reach the evacuation site. Now she is safe—she has received a supply of food and is heading to a new home with her family.
In April, during the evacuation, the ginger cat Persik ran away from his owner and got lost. After some time, the cat returned to a transit point, where staff fed him and cared for him as much as he would allow.
In July, a representative of the Donetsk Regional State Administration contacted the volunteers. She explained that a woman was looking for her ginger cat. Upon seeing the photo, the woman immediately recognized Persik and set out from Poltava to find him. After three months of living on the streets, the cat finally returned home. Before he set off, the volunteers also gave him a supply of food.
The “Sхід SOS” Charitable Foundation team provides assistance to people evacuating with their pets. U-Hearts is joining this effort: partners are donating food and carriers needed for the journey ahead for these people and their pets.
