Forum Theater for Displaced Communities: How to Test Important Decisions on Stage Before Implementing Them
The civil society organizations “STAN” and “Theater of Change” invite displaced communities—representatives of local government, educational, cultural, youth, and social institutions—to join a unique interactive project. Participants will have the opportunity to address complex community issues using forum theater methods before implementing these solutions in real life.
The program is designed for active members of displaced communities who were forced to leave their homes due to the war but are committed to maintaining ties within their community and coordinating actions today. The main goal of the meetings is to provide a safe space for recovery, strengthen internal dialogue based on the “do no harm” principle, and collaboratively develop a vision for the future.
What can participants expect?
A three-day in-person gathering for 15 representatives from a single displaced community;
A recreational location in western Ukraine that will facilitate informal communication, relaxation, and rejuvenation;
Practical workshops on forum theater—an interactive tool that allows participants to safely discuss the community’s past, present, and future while taking different perspectives into account.
The organizers will hold three separate meetings. Each will be entirely dedicated to one specific community and will bring together people from different social backgrounds.
Who can apply?
Institutions that work directly with the relocated population may submit a single joint application on behalf of the community:
• local government bodies;
• youth councils, centers, and initiatives;

Important requirement: A group of 15 people must include young people, as well as employees of local governments or other organizations that support the community’s daily life during evacuation.
