International Family Day, celebrated annually on May 15, brought the Donetsk region together around the preservation of family memory and cultural heritage.
The regional online photo exhibition “The Chest” served as a symbolic space where the stories of generations, preserved in cherished family heirlooms, came to life.
The project was initiated by the Donetsk Regional Educational and Methodological Center for Culture with the support of the Donetsk Regional State Administration.
More than fifty families participated in the photo exhibition, presenting special family heirlooms: embroidered shirts, towels, antique icons, letters, photographs, and documents. Each of these items preserves memories of the past, conveys family traditions and spiritual values, and serves as a reminder of the importance of the bond between generations.
The exhibition became a unique journey through the family histories of the Donetsk region—stories that are sincere, touching, and filled with love for one’s family. It is precisely these family treasures that help preserve cultural heritage, strengthen a sense of unity, and maintain a connection to one’s roots.
