Communities in Donetsk region continue to actively participate in the regional campaign “Give a child the gift of reading,” initiated by the Donetsk Regional State Administration. The initiative, which was launched on International Book Giving Day and will continue throughout 2026, aims to implement the Reading Development Strategy, expand access for children and young people to high-quality Ukrainian-language literature, and foster a sustainable culture of reading.
The Velykonovosilkovska community joined the campaign. On Book Giving Day on February 14, the head of the Velykonovosilkovska settlement military administration, Serhiy Kravchenko, personally joined the initiative: he talked to the child of a military serviceman from the community, asked about her hobbies and dreams, and gave her books as a gift. This meeting was an example of open dialogue with residents, attention to the families of defenders, and sincere support for children who need care and warmth.
Another community that supported the initiative was the Siverska community. Students of general secondary education institutions in the community will receive interesting and meaningful books as gifts, selected according to their age and interests. In this way, the community is joining forces around an important goal - to give children the joy of reading and open up the world of quality Ukrainian books to them.
The “Give a Child Reading” campaign is gaining momentum and becoming an example of unity among the communities of Donetsk Oblast in supporting children and young people. In wartime, books take on special significance, becoming a source of knowledge, inner strength, and psychological support. Through reading, children maintain a sense of stability, develop, learn to dream, and believe in the future, despite difficult circumstances.
