Immunoprophylaxis is the most effective means of preventing infectious diseases. It ensures the formation of specific immunity by administering vaccines or serums that stimulate the body to produce antibodies. Thanks to vaccination, it has been possible to reduce the incidence of polio, measles, whooping cough, diphtheria, tetanus, hepatitis B, and other dangerous infections. The immunoprophylaxis system in Ukraine operates in accordance with the National Preventive Vaccination Calendar, which specifies the list of mandatory vaccines and the age at which they should be administered: tuberculosis, viral hepatitis B, whooping cough, diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, and Haemophilus influenzae type b. The state provides citizens with free vaccines that are of proven quality and undergo international control. Immunoprophylaxis not only protects individuals, but also contributes to the formation of collective immunity, which prevents the spread of infections in society. It is especially important for children, healthcare workers, military personnel, and people with chronic diseases.
During the current period of 2025, Ukraine has seen an increase in measles cases, with an incidence rate of 3.35 per 100,000 population, which is six times higher than in the same period in 2024.
There is only one way to prevent the further spread of infection: vaccination.
