The Ukrainian Powerlifting and Bench Press Cup for people with visual impairments took place in Rivne on March 20–22.
Competitors from Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, Rivne, and Kharkiv regions, as well as the city of Kyiv, vied for the top honors.
Donetsk region was represented by six athletes from the city of Sloviansk, students of the Donetsk Regional Children’s and Youth Sports School for People with Disabilities.
Gold medals in powerlifting (based on the total of the three events) and separately for the bench press were won by: Volodymyr Shaulsky – in the weight category up to 56 kg, Volodymyr Drany – in the up to 60 kg category, Yuriy Romanyuk – in the up to 67.5 kg category, Vasylisa Kozyreva – in the up to 52 kg category, and Valentina Grygorieva – in the up to 67.5 kg category.
Valentin Khomenko won the bronze medal in the bench press in the 90 kg weight class.
Powerlifters from Donetsk Oblast with visual impairments continue their training and preparation for international competitions in Rivne under the guidance of Honored Coaches of Ukraine Igor Kotlyarov and Oleksiy Pozdnyukhov.
