Stories of resilience: how the “Energy Support for Sole Proprietors” program works on the ground

Published 27 March 2026 year, 12:26

In times of energy challenges, the stable operation of businesses directly depends on their ability to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply. That is why the “Energy Support for Sole Proprietors” program was introduced to help small businesses increase their energy independence.

Recently, the program’s opportunities were expanded, making it more accessible to a wider range of entrepreneurs. In particular, the application deadline has been extended for another two months — until May 31, 2026. The list of eligible economic activities has also been broadened: now sole proprietors working in food production, water supply, specialized retail, and education can benefit from the program.

Within the initiative, the funds can be used to purchase generator fuel, solar panels, batteries, and inverters, as well as for installation and electricity supply services.

The stories of participants clearly demonstrate how this support works in practice.

Entrepreneur Nataliia Pyshniova, who works in trade and catering, has been actively cooperating with the employment service since 2019. Thanks to the program, she purchased a generator that ensures uninterrupted operation of her café-store even during power outages.

Viktoriia Okhrymenko, despite relocating her business from a frontline area, managed to preserve her grocery store and jobs for her employees. By participating in the program, she also purchased a generator, making her business more resilient to energy challenges and ensuring that community residents have access to fresh food at all times.

For Yevhen Smal, who runs a medical business, energy independence is прежде всего about patient safety. Through the program, he acquired a generator and strengthened the technical capacity of his clinic. Now, diagnostic equipment and medication storage conditions no longer depend on the stability of the power grid.

Entrepreneurs from various sectors prove that timely support helps businesses remain resilient, continue serving people, and support local economies.
