The Ukrainian House National Center in Kyiv has opened an exhibition entitled "BREAD," which traces the presence of bread in traditional holidays, life cycle rituals, folk poetry, toponymy, and surnames, and introduces viewers to the oven as a key element of Ukrainian domestic culture.

The exhibition features works by Maria Prymachenko, Oleksandr Saienko, Tetiana Yablonska, Ivan-Valentyn Zadorozhny, Alla Horskaya, Viktor Zaretsky, Zhanna Kadyrova, Igor Gaidai, Myroslav Yagoda, Stanislav Turina, and more than 50 other artists.

The team of the NGO "Nadazov Greeks" joined in preparing one of the exhibition stands dedicated to the bread traditions of the Nadazov Greeks. Information about the Nadazov Greeks and selected ritual breads (psatyr, vasilopita/akhchepita, christopsum/hrtoz okmek, stavros/stavroz) was prepared. Fragrant psatyr was also prepared, as this small exhibition, according to the organizers' plan, is part of the exhibition story about the ritual breads of Ukraine, which were traditionally baked in the spring.

The stand about the Greeks of Donetsk is also a unique opportunity for the entire community, which now lives far from their native home in Donetsk region, to see authentic household items of the Urums and Rumys, made back in the 19th century: a genuine perifta from Sartana from the collection of the National Museum of Decorative Arts of Ukraine, an embroidered shirt and homespun towels stored in the Dnipropetrovsk National Historical Museum named after D. I. Yavornytsky.

The exhibition will run until January 18.
