The colors of hope of ten-year-old Sofia Ivanchенко from Vuhledar community

Published 28 June 2025 year, 10:06

On June 28, 2025, it will be 29 years since the adoption of the Constitution of Ukraine. This year, we will once again celebrate the national holiday in the conditions of armed aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

Despite the horrors of war, life in Donetsk region continues: children continue to receive education, residents of the region have access to medical and social services, and conditions are being created for the development of creative abilities, etc.

On the occasion of Constitution Day of Ukraine, the regional state administration has launched a regional campaign "The Constitution of Ukraine through the prism of war." The stories of the residents of Donetsk region once again prove that even in a state of war, the commitment to constitutional principles is important for the Ukrainian state – the affirmation of human rights and freedoms, compliance with universal and European values, which the Ukrainian people bravely defend in the current conditions, protecting freedom, territorial integrity, independence, and sovereignty of Ukraine.

Article 54 Citizens are guaranteed freedom of literary, artistic, scientific, and technical creativity, protection of intellectual property, their authors' rights, moral and material interests arising in connection with various types of intellectual activity.

Sofia Ivanchenko is a ten-year-old girl from the Vuhledar community who, despite her young age, has already become a symbol of resilience, talent, and faith in the future. The war forced her to leave her native home, her favorite childhood paths, but it could not take away her main thing — her dream.

Sofia is a two-time winner of the regional competition for young readers "I am the future of Donetsk region — 2024." In her texts, she speaks deeply and maturely about dreams, hopes, and the world she wants to change.

In 2025, Sofia won first place in the regional round of the International Environmental Children's Drawing Competition "The Future of the Planet is in Our Hands" in the age category of 8–11 years.

These are not just victories in competitions — this is the story of a girl who knows how to turn pain into beauty, anxiety into hope, and colors into a language of peace. Sofia dreams of returning home — to the already restored, free Vuhledar — and painting a future without war.

Sofia is an example of how children, even after experiencing the loss of their home, can become a voice of hope for the entire country. Her word is significant. Her drawing is expressive. And her future will definitely be bright.

Donetsk region is proud of its talents! We believe that with each passing year, there will be even more opportunities to discover and support them!
