In the context of the Russian Federation’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine, a significant number of our citizens have been taken prisoner or are missing, and their families require appropriate support in terms of information.
With the aim of locating those missing as a result of the armed conflict and securing the return of Ukrainian defenders and civilians held by the aggressor state, the Coordination Headquarters utilises an information system for the treatment of prisoners of war.
Using the capabilities of this information system, family members of those held captive can register for a personal account, through which they will receive online updates regarding their loved ones.
This includes information such as: status as a prisoner of war; confirmation of this status from the International Committee of the Red Cross; place of detention; confirmation that the deprivation of personal liberty resulted from armed aggression against Ukraine; and other details.
In addition, families can add information about their relatives (the information system has over 100 fields to complete: distinguishing features; height; shoe size; and so on), which helps to identify a person whilst they are in captivity.
