The communities of Kostiantynivka and Oleksandriya have joined forces to promote reading

Published 23 April 2026 year, 10:01

As part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities,” a substantive and inspiring professional meeting was held on the topic “The Library as a Hub for Promoting the Ukrainian Language.” The event brought together library professionals to exchange experiences, modern practices, and effective approaches to promoting reading.

Representatives from the Kostiantynivka Central City Public Library and the Oleksandriya City Centralized Library System participated in the meeting. This collaboration served as a vivid example of the implementation of the “Side by Side: United Communities” initiative, aimed at strengthening cultural ties and fostering shared values.

Alina Bilokonenko, a librarian at the Oleksandriya Youth Branch, shared her experience with language clubs operating at the library. She spoke about engaging events that combine reading, watching films, and exploring the traditions and customs of their native region. She paid special attention to the video project “Language, Mom, and Me,” in which her son participates.

The meeting served as a powerful platform for professional dialogue, mutual inspiration, and the exchange of ideas. It reaffirmed once again that modern libraries are not just places for storing books, but also active cultural spaces that bring communities together, support the development of reading, and open up new opportunities for shared growth.

The “Side by Side: United Communities” initiative has once again proven its effectiveness: through cooperation, openness, and mutual support, communities grow stronger, and books remain a reliable bridge between generations, ideas, and people’s hearts.
