The Donetsk Academic Regional Drama Theatre (Mariupol) has set off on a tour of cities across the State of Israel. This international tour is more than just an artistic event – it is an important step in Ukraine’s cultural diplomacy, taking place at a pivotal time for our country.
From 2 to 11 July 2026, there will be eight performances of the documentary play «The Mariupol Drama» in Israel.
Ukrainian actors take to the Israeli stage as living bearers of memory and first-hand witnesses to historical events. That is why every word and movement they make on stage carries special weight and therapeutic value.
For the theatre company, the tour has become a space for open, honest dialogue with international audiences. The tour has become a true mission: through the performing arts, the actors convey truthful accounts of the war to an international audience, debunk Russian disinformation and affirm solidarity with the Ukrainian people in their struggle for freedom and independence.
At a time when the enemy is attempting to destroy Ukrainian identity and distort the truth about its crimes, every performance abroad becomes an act of Ukraine’s cultural presence in the world. It is an effective instrument of soft power, helping to strengthen international support and foster a clear understanding within the global community of the challenges Ukrainian society is currently facing.
