The Order of St. Panteleimon is often referred to as the "medical Oscar" because this prestigious award is given to the best medical professionals in Ukraine.
Among them is Oleksiy Yakovlenko, a laureate of the Donetsk Region Award, candidate of medical sciences, sexologist, andrologist of the highest category, and now commander of the medical company of the 18th Slovyansk Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine (Charter Corps).
Oleksiy Viktorovich received the Order and recognition from the medical civilian and military community in 2022 in the nomination "For selfless service to the Ukrainian people, courage and resilience in the struggle for the health of Ukrainians, for the freedom and independence of Ukraine in the war with the Russian aggressor."
From August 2021, he headed Kramatorsk City Hospital No. 3. He terminated his contract with the hospital ahead of schedule and voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This truly courageous act set a worthy example for many colleagues who joined military medicine, which is a vital component, especially in the Donetsk region.
Currently, Oleksii Viktorovych is providing medical care to the brigade's soldiers and their comrades from neighboring units and brigades. Thanks to his service, the number and quality of medical personnel is growing, and a greater number of areas of assistance are being covered.
The medical front is a quiet but fierce battle for life. Military medics are true titans who bear the health of our army on their shoulders.
Donetsk region has its own medical heroes who deserve the highest awards and honors! We are proud of Oleksii Viktorovych, his comrades, and all military medics in the region.
We wish you nerves of steel, a steady hand, and a minimum of critical situations. May the skies above you be calm, and your backpacks full of supplies that always work when needed. Honor and respect to you!
