Valeriy Tykhonov is the head of the non-technical survey teams at HALO Ukraine, originally from Sloviansk. Before joining the organization, he ran his own business.
He found out about HALO by accident - his car broke down near the company's office, and he decided to stop by and find out about the work. Valeriy did not hesitate to leave his business because he decided to help people and at the same time have a stable job and social guarantees.
In eight years at HALO, he has worked his way up from a deminer to a team leader.
"I like this job - constant movement, new places, new people. I like communicating with the locals, helping farmers and communities.
