As part of the implementation of the state policy to support war veterans and their families, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine continues to implement a pilot project to provide state aid for education to children of war veterans.
The goal of the project is to create conditions under which children of war veterans will be able to receive a quality education and develop their potential without being limited by financial difficulties.
Project participants will be able to receive
state support to pay for education in general higher education and professional higher education institutions;
Reduced financial burden on the families of veterans
new educational opportunities for children growing up in families of Heroes.
Who can participate?
Children of female and male veterans who are studying under contract in professional higher education institutions:
- children who have the status of a family member of a deceased defender or defender of Ukraine
- сhildren with disabilities caused by war
- children of combatants as defined in paragraphs 19-25 of the first part of Article 6 of the Law of Ukraine "On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection"
- children of persons who have the status of missing persons under special circumstances
- children of persons who have established the fact of deprivation of personal freedom as a result of armed aggression against Ukraine
- children of persons recognized as victims of the Revolution of Dignity
How to get assistance:
Check the participation of your educational institution:
Contact the administration of your school to find out if it is participating in the project.
Submit documents:
Submit documents to your school to confirm your status.
Confirm the notification in Diia:
After receiving a notification of state aid in the Diia app, confirm it within 20 calendar days.
Wait for the funds to arrive:
The funds will be transferred directly to the account of the educational institution, and you will receive information about the reimbursement.
Important to know:
- Assistance is provided one-time during the 2025/26 academic year.
- The project is implemented by the Ministry of Veterans, the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science.
- The first to be notified are graduate students to ensure that they receive timely support.
Currently, the project is being implemented in a test format, and its results will determine the best mechanism for further support of educational initiatives for children of veterans throughout Ukraine.
