The Ministry of Veterans Affairs and the Ministry of Digital Transformation have digitized a service for veteran-owned businesses

Published 13 May 2026 year, 10:31

We’re replacing paper-based bureaucracy with an instant digital extract. The Ministry of Veterans Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, is launching the “Obtaining Veteran Entrepreneurship Status” service on the Diya Portal.

🔹What does this change in practice? Previously, obtaining this status required submitting a paper application. Now the process is fully automated: data on the veteran and their business is retrieved from registries instantly. The system performs checks automatically through integration with government registries. The entire process—from submitting the application to receiving the electronic certificate—is now fully digital and takes only a few minutes.

🔹Who can use the service? To participate, you must have active war veteran status and a registered, active business:

  • be a sole proprietor (FOP) or a self-employed individual engaged in independent professional activities;
  • be a legal entity (all founders and beneficiaries must be exclusively war veterans).

🔹How to take advantage of this new opportunity?

Log in to the Diya Portal using your digital signature (for legal entities, the digital signature must include the company’s EDRPOU code).

  • Select the “Veteran Entrepreneurship Status” service.
  • Verify the applicant’s information and eligibility.
  • Review and confirm the details of the application for status.
  • Sign and submit the application.
  • Wait for the outcome of the application review; if the status is successfully granted, receive the extract.

🔹If the data in the registries is outdated or contains errors, the system will not be able to confirm compliance with the requirements. In this case, update the data in the relevant registry and resubmit the application after updating it.

🔹What is important for users to know?

  • One status — one business: a veteran may hold only one status as a veteran entrepreneur at a time (either as a sole proprietor or self-employed individual, or as a company participant).
  • Government benefits: this status provides access to priority government contracts, preferential loans, and compensation, among other benefits.

ℹ The "Veteran Entrepreneurship Status" service was launched by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine in collaboration with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine as part of the "Dія Support Project," which is funded by Sweden.
