International humanitarian organization Mercy Corps expands its agricultural support program

Published 19 November 2025 year, 10:25

The international humanitarian organization Mercy Corps, with support from the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, is expanding its Ukraine Agriculture Support Program, which targets medium-sized agribusinesses and related enterprises that have been affected by the war and are important to local communities.

Support will be provided to enterprises in 13 regions of Ukraine: Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Odesa, and Cherkasy regions, except for dangerous areas where active hostilities are ongoing and areas close to such territories.

Financial assistance is directed towards the restoration of machinery, equipment, infrastructure, and other property. The average grant amount is $150,000 (in hryvnia at the NBU exchange rate). Businesses must confirm their war losses and justify the need for support, as well as make their own contribution of up to 50% of the grant amount.

Priority will be given to applications from affected areas, initiatives with a social impact on communities, and business models that involve cooperation with local households and farmers.
