On July 26–29, 2025, youth from Pokrovsk and Novogrodivka took part in the tent camp “Field game named after the chieftains of Kholodny Yar”, which took place in the Kholodny Yar reserve zone of Cherkasy region.
The purpose of the camp is to form a defensive consciousness, temper civic resilience, popularize the history of the struggle of the Ukrainian people for self-determination, as well as honor the Heroes of the Russian-Ukrainian war and modern defenders who defend the independence and territorial integrity of the state.
For the participants of Donetsk region, these four days became a real test and at the same time a deep experience of unity and self-knowledge. The program was designed to combine military training with spiritual and cultural content: training in military topography, tactical medicine, working with drones, the basics of combat, as well as active participation in a field game, which became a test of endurance, teamwork and leadership qualities.
A separate block of the program was a discussion of the history of Kholodny Yar, meetings with local historians, discussions of the heroic past of the atamans, watching thematic films by the campfire. These meetings allowed young people not only to learn facts, but also to feel the continuity of generations, to realize themselves as part of the great history of resistance and state formation.
Such camps prove that patriotism is not just words, but a daily readiness for responsibility and action. For the youth of Donetsk region, who face the challenges of war every day, participation in the "Field Game" is an opportunity to temper character, strengthen team spirit, and feel unity with the history of their native land and modern defenders. It is an experience that inspires them to return to their communities with new knowledge, ideas, and confidence in their own abilities to build a strong, independent Ukraine even in the most difficult times.
