On February 9, 2026, the Donetsk Region's Center for Unity and National Resistance platform, together with the regional administration's Department of Family, Youth, and Mass Events for National Patriotic Education, held another online dialogue as part of a free preparatory course for the National Multidisciplinary Test (NMT) on Ukrainian history.
This time, participants delved into one of the key topics in detail: the Ukrainian people's national liberation war of the mid-17th century led by Bohdan Khmelnytsky.
During the event, participants examined in detail the preconditions for the 1648 uprising, the key stages in the formation of the Cossack state, Bohdan Khmelnytsky's military strategy, and the peculiarities of diplomacy at that time. The session ended with an interactive quiz, during which young people were able to test their understanding of the material, ask questions to the speaker, and share their own thoughts.
The meeting confirmed that studying the past is the foundation for the future. Understanding the origins of Ukrainian statehood during the time of Bohdan Khmelnytsky allows today's youth to better understand current events and establish their own civic position in the context of full-scale war.
