The Ukrainian language has endured centuries of bans and restrictions. Attempts were made to eliminate it from education, books, and cultural life, but it continued to thrive and be passed down to future generations.
In honor of Ukrainian Literacy and Language Day, the Donetsk Regional Youth Center invites you to an online event titled “The Language That Was Banned.”
We’ll discuss the history of the Ukrainian language, recall key bans from various periods, and learn how the Ukrainian language was preserved despite attempts to restrict it.
Participants can expect an interactive session featuring interesting historical facts, questions, and discussions.
The online event will take place on October 27 at 2:00 p.m. on Google Meet.
