"Young Person of the Year – 2025" - Yevhenii Kulish

Published 16 August 2025 year, 11:12

Participant of the regional contest "Young Person of the Year – 2025"  in the nomination "Unbroken: The Strength of Spirit and Valor of the Donetsk Region" Yevhenii Kulish

I, Yevhenii Kulish, was born in 2002 in the cozy city of Vuhledar. Since childhood, I have been involved in boxing, became a prize-winner of the Donetsk region championship, and actively participated in sports competitions. My school years are filled with memories of the military-patriotic game "Sokil" ("Dzhura"), where our group "Black Horsemen" won victories.

In 2019, I entered Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, from which I graduated in 2022, receiving a higher education degree in "Law Enforcement." In August 2021, I joined the National Police of Ukraine, where I worked in the patrol police response sector and later as an operational officer.

The full-scale invasion of Russia on February 24, 2022, found me in Vuhledar. I witnessed the deaths of civilians and helped those who were escaping from the Russian aggression. On July 1, 2023, I joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After training, I was sent to the 55th Separate Artillery Brigade "Zaporizhzhia Sich," which has been repeatedly recognized as one of the most combat-ready brigades.

I am currently fulfilling my civic duty on the Toretsk (Kostiantynivka) front as a gunner-operator. Together with my brothers-in-arms, we work day and night, providing fire support. I am proud to be participating in the battles on the Pokrovsk front.

In January 2024, I received the "War Veteran. Combatant" medal, and in March 2025, I was awarded the "Defender of Ukraine" commendation from the Minister of Defense of Ukraine. I am defending my younger sister, my mother, the independence of Ukraine, and the future of Ukrainian children.

For freedom, for faith, for the honor of Ukraine, I will tirelessly stand with my brothers-in-arms.

GLORY TO UKRAINE! GLORY TO THE HEROES!
