"Young Person of the Year – 2025" - Yurii Bobrovskyi

Participant of the Regional Competition "Young Person of the Year – 2025" in the Nomination "Critical Infrastructure Worker of the Year" Yurii Bobrovskyi

Yurii Bobrovskyi is a 5th-grade fitter who uses his own hands every day to maintain the vital infrastructure of the city of Sloviansk. Since August 2, 2024, he has been working at "Slovmiskvodokanal," where he is responsible for the proper functioning of the water and sewage systems—the basis without which the normal life of the city's residents is impossible.

Yurii is a man with a deep inner world. In 2021, he earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the Donbas State Pedagogical University. His desire to understand others and to help with both words and deeds is evident not only in his daily life but also in his work. Despite the fact that his profession involves heavy physical labor and daily contact with machinery, pipes, and tools, Yurii manages to maintain his humanity, calmness, and composure even in the most stressful situations. His colleagues say: "Yura is the one who will never refuse. He will go into a pit—day or night—if there's an emergency. Silently, clearly, without unnecessary words."

His contribution became especially important during the full-scale invasion, when water supply was often disrupted by shelling. He worked in extremely difficult conditions, risking his life to ensure that people's homes had water again. "My job is not just about turning wrenches. It's about responsibility. If I don't do it, there will be no water in the hospital, in a house with children, or for the firefighters," says Yurii.

In his free time, Yurii reads psychology literature, is interested in history, and loves quiet and walks. His dream is to live in a calm, peaceful city where no one waits for air raid sirens, and everyone just works, raises children, and plans for the future.

"I believe that our strength is in ordinary people. People like you, me, my neighbors. If everyone does their job well, we will win faster," says Yurii Bobrovskyi.
