Participant of the Regional Competition "Young Person of the Year – 2025" in the Nomination "Public Figure of the Year" Serhiy Telius
In 2024, a new volunteer, Serhiy Telius, joined the Lyman City Organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society.
From the very beginning, his participation in the organization's life was distinguished by a sincere motivation, great humanity, and an inner resilience that is often lacking even in experienced specialists during crisis situations. Serhiy consciously chose an important and difficult path for himself: psychosocial support. He made this decision for a reason: his own life experience, the losses he endured, and his desire to help others cope with emotional trauma inspired him to direct his efforts toward supporting the mental health of those who find themselves in conditions of war, home loss, fear, or anxiety. Within the framework of psychosocial support activities, Serhiy is actively involved in organizing and conducting events for adults and children, holds informal conversations with people experiencing stress, and supports families of internally displaced persons and the elderly.
At the same time, Serhiy does not limit himself to just this area. His participation in the organization's volunteer life is comprehensive and constant. He regularly takes part in the distribution of humanitarian aid—organizing the process, helping with logistics, and maintaining order and calmness among the beneficiaries. People who come to the organization can always count not only on a package with food or hygiene products but also on a sincere word of support from Serhiy.
A separate part of his volunteer work is responding to emergencies. In the event of shelling or other crisis events, he is one of the first ready to go to the site—to help those in need, deliver water, food, tarpaulin, and provide moral support. He works calmly, clearly, and with a deep understanding of his responsibility to people.
Serhiy's colleagues talk about him as a person who does not seek recognition, is not afraid of hard work, and always keeps his word. He is the kind of volunteer who arrives first and leaves last, always asks how he can help, always listens, and never refuses. Serhiy Telius is an example of a new generation volunteer: resilient, empathetic, and responsible. At a time when the burden of war falls on the shoulders of communities and people, it is such volunteers who are the support that keeps hope alive.
