Participant in the regional “Young Person of the Year – 2026” competition “Leaders of Knowledge” category: David Rubets
David Rubets’ athletic career began at the Mangush powerlifting school under the guidance of Ivan Zbandut, Honored Coach of Ukraine. His persistent work during training allowed the young athlete to quickly advance from regional tournaments to national competitions.
In 2024, David won the gold medal in the men’s total in the under-93-kg weight class, lifting a total of 785 kg. At the same competition, he set a Ukrainian record in the squat with a lift of 325 kg and also won silver medals in the bench press and deadlift.
His successes at the national level paved the way for him to join the Ukrainian national team. David became a medalist at the European Junior Championships, and in 2025, at the World Junior Championships, he recorded a total of 900 kg in the powerlifting total, ranking among the world’s strongest young powerlifters.
Despite being forced to relocate and facing difficult conditions, the athlete continues his training regimen. His performances and consistent results on the international stage draw attention to the development of powerlifting and represent the Mangush community and the Donetsk region in the sporting arena.
